As a relative newcomer to studying type (of course I've used type lots but not really thought about the history or origins) it was a really fascinating book to dip into. When on the tube or sitting at the bus stop I found myself taking a good hard look at the fonts and smiling to myself as I remembered the stories behind them.
I decided very belatedly that I should try and read Twilight to see what all the fuss was about. I had watched part of one of the films (New Moon) when I was on a plane and thought it was pretty boring, but wasn't sure if it was because it either wasn't as good as the book or I just wasn't 'getting' it because I hadn't seen/read the previous instalments.
So, I read through the first third of the first book, and I can, in a way, see why it has become so popular - but I wasn't too bothered about finishing it. I asked people on Twitter if I should keep going, wondering if anyone would say 'Yes, you absolutely have to because it gets really good towards the end!' But they didn't.
So I think I will leave it. It's a bit too full of teenage angst for my liking (I think I have quite a low tolerance for that!) but on the other hand, had I read this book 15 years ago, then I probably would have enjoyed it. I did quite like watching Buffy when I was at school and this seems like it is not a m...I decided very belatedly that I should try and read Twilight to see what all the fuss was about. One of Roald Dahl's best books by far. It's one that you can read again and again - by turns thrilling, disgusting and heartwarming, Roald Dahl confirms his place as a master storyteller.
