CompletelyNovel Hosts BookMachine in Brighton, 25th September 2013

To celebrate the launch of their new global hub for the publishing industry, BookMachine.me, BookMachine are hosting 6 events in 6 cities, all on one fabulous night, 25th September 2013. The popular publishing socials will take place in London, New York, Oxford, Brighton, Barcelona & Toronto, each with a key speaker, friendly company, lots of drinks and fun networking.

CompletelyNovel are proud to be hosting and sponsoring the BookMachine Brighton event, with a talk from Julia Kingsford, former Marketing Director at Foyles and CEO of World Book Night, the huge publishing annual event in which 1 million print books are given out to promote and encourage reading.

The Spread the Word Prize, 27th September 2013

CompletelyNovel will be joining Spread the Word, a writer development agency for London, and writers/prize judges Bidisha and Tania Hershman to celebrate the Spread the Word Prize For Writing, at a FREE reception in central London.

This year’s prize focuses on the potential and energy of the contemporary short form. Come along to celebrate the inaugural award of the writing prize, find out about Spread the Word’s own publishing venture, and meet and mingle with writers and publishers devoted to short stories.

This event, which takes place at Foyles Gallery, will also feature a complementary glass of bubbly, plus some readings from and discussion with the judges. For more information about this year’s prize, some details on the finalists and for a sneak preview of what Spread the Word are planning for next year’s prize, keep an eye on the Spread the Word website www.spreadtheword.org.uk.

Anna Lewis at the Cheltenham Literature Festival 5th October 2013

CompletelyNovel co-founder Anna Lewis will be presenting at the Write Away weekend workshop on Self-Publishing at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, talking about production and distribution of works.

The two-day course will explore the new resources, processes and thinking offered by self-publishing, including recent research into the motivations and satisfactions available to writers who choose to self-publish. The weekend workshop will be curated by Dr. Alison Baverstock and other key speakers include Andrew Crofts, biographer and ghostwriter; Helen Hart, MD of self-publishing specialists SilverWood Books; and Gale Winskill, hugely experienced editorial consultant. There will also be a special session with novelist Philip Hensher.

The weekend workshop will take place at the elegant Greenway Hotel & Spa, just ten minutes drive away from Cheltenham Town Centre.

The Writing Platform at RichMix 4th November 2013

The CompletelyNovel team will be exhibiting and speaking at The Writing Platform mini-fair and conference for writers and small publishers this November.

Taking place at Rich Mix in Shoreditch, the day will include panel discussion on current hot-topics and exhibitors stands where visitors can get advice on a range of publishing topics including developing their online presence, editorial and cover design, production and distribution, and copyright. It is also a great opportunity to meet and network with other writers and share experiences.

CompletelyNovel will be running a competition to offer a free ticket to one of tis members to attend this useful writers’ conference, so watch out for our offers in the newsletters.
