I’ve published my book and can see that a BookStreamer version has been created too. I want to use it to promote my book but I’d like to limit the number of pages that people can view for free. How can I do this?
A Bookstream is automatically generated for each book published on CompletelyNovel. This is an online version of the book which enables other people to read it, but not download or print it and is a good way of promoting the book.
If you have a Plus or Pro plan then you are able to limit the number of pages which can be viewed for free. You do this by clicking on the ‘Manage’ link next to the book in question. Click on the ‘Content’ tab and scroll down to the Bookstreamer section. There is a field which says ‘Free Page Count’ and you can type in the number of pages you want to have available for people to read.
Hi
I’ve just updated my book (for the final time!!). I went to set the number of pages that can be viewed online (at 50, not the complete 320) as per your instructions above…. But the ‘free page count’ setting has disappeared!!! I am a Pro plan member so it should be there, no?
Could you please advise me? This is very urgent as I don’t want my entire manuscript to be available online. Help, please.
Thanks
Andrew

I’m with Andrew. Can’t find a page count setting and don’t want my (very short) book to be fully available for online reading free of charge. Any ideas anyone?
If you are a plus or pro member you can limit the number of pages shown in your bookstreamer by going to the manage page for the book. In the content tab you will find a tool to set the number of pages that are visible. Leave it empty for the whole book.
I also ought to mention why we encourage everyone to make the books available to read online. We find that it almost always increases sales. Very few people will read the whole book from a laptop. However being able to read as much as you want makes it easy to make the choice to buy the book and read comfortably.
Best,
Oli
Thanks for that Oli. It is worth pointing out that the box you refer to disappeared from the system over the weekend and changes were unable to be made. Thanks for setting the number of pages at 50.
