My favourite book is Catch 22…and thinking about it, I haven’t read it for a while so I must dig it out. I remember reading it for the first time when I was about 16 and laughing out loud in my bedroom so much that my sister had to come down the corridor at home and check that I wasn’t having some kind of mental episode.
As a child, Roald Dahl was always my favourite. I still feel the same mix of fascination and fear when I glance over a copy of The Witches. Quentin Blake’s illustrations are fantastic.
When I was studying law, I was reading so many big fat textbooks and law cases that I didn’t want to even look at a book so I was quite relieved, from a literature point of view, to leave Uni and start a job where I could feel like reading was a relaxing pastime again.
