About me

Ardie Collins is sometimes hungry and rarely late.

He has spent half of his life inhaling and near enough the other half exhaling.

In between these other commitments he had got around to writing a book.

I’ve had to take my book down from this site for now, by request of the publishers, but I will hopefully be able to put back some preview chapters on here soon. The release date of the novel is still unknown, but A Very Important Book About Mooranity should be available at some point exactly during 2011.

Yeah, the process I've been experiencing with this indie publisher has been fairly stress-free (so far!), and I think it's mainly down to the fact that they're listening to me and giving suggestions, as opposed to demands. I'm always open to suggestions, so I've made a couple of compromises here or there, and it's mainly been because of the way they've been dealing with me. Ardie (more) and received+3

I agree, I have no experience of mainstream publishers, but the fact that I've been able to converse with someone that seems to genuinely care about my opinion really makes a difference. As far as promotion, the publishers are covering any costs, but I don't know what their precise plans are in terms of promotion. I'm just going to do my bit on Facebook and Twitter etc. But as I said in my post, my main concern is just holding my debut novel in my hand for the first time. I can't wait! Glad to hear your latest book is coming along, and good luck with it when it's all sorted. I'll let you know about sample chapters as soon as they're available. Thanks again, Ardie (more) and bagged+3

I agree with Bryony's comments about independent publishers. In fact, I read somewhere (can't remember where - might have been CN!) that even big name authors are going to indies more and more these days for the very reasons you mention. (more) and won+3

I'm also going through the same process again for OTOLI with my current publisher. I'm at the waiting for type-set proof stage as well as the re-work of cover art, but it is still all very exciting. As much as we all long to land a killer deal with a mainstream house the Independent publishers tend to give you more of a one on one treatment which can make the process so much more enjoyable, you tend to have an input rather than just saying oh okay then. Will you be getting much support in terms of book promotion? Enjoy the ride and I'll look out for your preview chapters! Bryony (more) and gained+3
