About me

Where to begin? I have always enjoyed writing, ever since I was a child and can’t remember a time where I haven’t wanted a book in my hand. I did a degree in English and Drama at Roehampton University and ended up doing a PGCE at the Cambridge University, Homerton College after which I embarked on a career in teaching. I’ve been doing this ever since.
I read excessively, all sorts of novels by different authors; my favorites are Ian Rankin, Ruth Rendell and Daphne du Maurier but I’m always finding others. That said, writing is a passion for me and I really enjoy the creative release it can give.
“Mystery, Deceit and a School Inspector” was published in 2006 with UK Independent publisher Pneuma Springs (you can read the first few chapters for nothing here on CN). I now also write to appeal to the darker side of the teenage/young adult mind.
My second work titled OTOLI for Young Adult readers went through redraft here on CN with the help of readers feedback. This book was published by Pneuma Springs on 28th April 2011. I’m now researching and writing for other projects for both Adult and Young Adult readerships. I look forward to touching base with you all.

I'm enjoying the break but as teachers know, no sooner than you get a couple of weeks in we are busy planning and preparing again. The headteacher ordered about 80 books from my publisher and these are held in the school library, I'm not sure if all would be that supportive. The county council are aware of my books too so there may well be other schools in the area that have them. I know one reviewer from a young adult book blog said the book should be used as part of PHSE curriculum so if the powers that be ever take that on board at some point I'll be ecstatic. I can live in hope. Completely Novel is a lovely place for all writers and readers regardless of whether you are self publishing or with a publisher. At the end of the day it's a community of people with like minded interests, writing and reading so it's all good in my book (excuse the pun!). Enjoy the rest of the break and good luck with your writing. Bryony (more) and bagged+3

I bet you're looking forward to summer so that you can start pushing your books a bit more and begin writing a possible fourth? I'm hoping to get lots done over the summer although I imagine that won't happen and before I realise it, it'll all be over. The second person I asked to look through my first novel read it in a couple of days but never gave me feedback, so that's a big aim for the summer. I might just publish it on here as it is and see if anyone is willing to give me a critique. I think you've got the right idea of befriending lots of people although I'm still struggling to keep up with Completely Novel and get everything sorted at school. Here's a question, do you stock your school library with your books? (more) and received+3

Movellas are in the processes of creating a big presence with the national newspapers for this as well as promoting via social media and also via 'Teachit' to about 150,000 schools! There are some great prizes to be won and there will be runner up prizes of signed copies of OTOLI too. Initially the competition was going to be open to 13-20 year old writers but it has now been opened to everyone. Please share this link with friends, family and schools in your area. Bullying UK, Beat Bullying and Childline are all on board supporting this competition too. As ever these things are very popular and the book is competing against many others but it's great that our publisher has done this for us. OTOLI has seen many super reviews to date and it is currently out with 5 young adult US reviewers and also going to a Northern Ireland reviewer next week so hopefully these will continue to be positive and help the profile of the book further. I know my publisher will be attending the 3 major book fair events (London, Frankfurt and US) too this year so who knows what the future could hold. Thanks again for the kind comments regarding OTOLI, I'm just glad you liked it. I think I'm enjoying being with a smaller publisher, they are growing all the time and look to be making their plans for the future. I'm not too worried about big 6 publishing now (although anything that distributes well is a good thing), the writing part is the key thing for me. Royalties come in from wherever if the writing is good no matter how big the publisher so with that in mind I'm ready for the future where writing is concerned. The second YA book is looking like it should be a green light for publishing so once things are totally confirmed I'll let everyone know (I never got around to sharing any of it here but will put up some tasters). My third YA book is fully drafted now so I may look to put this up here for beta readers, it will help the editing and polishing process, much as you have done with your own works! I'm also looking at a sequel for OTOLI centred more around the character of Jenny too. After that I may delve back in to Adult fiction, I have some ideas bubbling away. I'll keep an eye out for the release of TLK too. Best wishes Bryony (more) and won+3

Yes a third book (my second YA novel) is in with the publisher at the moment. It has been polished for the last 3 months so I'm hoping the verdict is a good one, I've had some emails back and I think the green light is coming very soon with luck). Hope your writing is going well, not to mention the teaching. Roll on the easter break from a teaching perspective! Best wishes Bryony (more) and bagged+3
