About me

I have an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and a master’s in English. I have worked in and around books my entire career and am currently an editor of technical trade books. I’m also a part-time Web designer and copy editor. I write fiction, both short stories and novels, that are primarily suspense but have a touch of horror as well. They often involve historical themes. I blog at www.jamesguyroberts.com and have a Facebook fan page (facebook.jamesguyroberts.com). For “fun” I run marathons and half-marathons.

I'd be very interesting in hearing about potential markets for short fiction. I have been published in a number of small press titles and websites, but many of these have closed. Are there any paid-for magazines that bridge the gap between genre writing and outright literary writing that you know of. I've tried Granta, but realise I'm punching above my weight with that one!
