Anthology creation services

Have you thought about making an anthology?

Anthologies are a lasting place for writers established and new to showcase their work. They are used by literary prizes, schools, universities, writing associations and a whole host of organisations who wish to celebrate the power of the written word. They allow emerging authors to get their work into print for perhaps the first time, and established authors to collaborate on new and interesting projects. Anthologies take pride of place on the bookshelves of the writers involved and excited readers, long after they are printed.

If you’d like to create a lasting showcase for some great writing, CompletelyNovel specialises in creating high-quality print books. It’s never been easier to make an anthology. We can help you proofread, typeset, prepare files, print and publish your book, including if you’re on a tight budget.

Anthologies we’ve helped produce

Arvon

Arvon is Arts Council funded and is renowned for its ability to help writers blossom through tutored creative writing courses. We’ve worked with Arvon for a number of years on several anthologies, the latest of which was Wassailing. Wassailing showcases the work of writers in the Arvon/Jerwood mentoring scheme and was launched on 15th June 2015.

Just MET

It’s a special moment when Creative Writing students can see their work in print for the first time. We’ve helped London Metropolitan University produce a number of inspiring anthologies from their annual creative writing competition. The 2013 edition is also available as an eBook on CompletelyNovel, here.

National Flash Fiction Day

Jawbreakers was published in 2012. Proving that there’s no limit to how many contributors you can have, there are over sixty beautifully crafted pieces of flash fiction or micro fiction from a huge variety of authors including Ian Rankin, Vanessa Gebbie and Jenn Ashworth.

Bugged

CompletelyNovel were delighted to produce an anthology showcasing stories from the innovative Bugged… Writings from Overhearings project. In summer 2010, writers all over the UK joined in a mass eavesdropping experiment – and wrote from what they heard.

We worked with these organisations to create anthologies that suited their needs. For example packages, please see below. If you don’t see one that exactly suits what you’re after – just drop us a line at team@completelynovel.com and we can tailor-make something to suit you. *What do we mean by ‘page’? – we mean a single side, printed in a standard size fiction book (140mm x 216mm). You can usually fit 250-300 words on a page. So, a 150 page book is approx 45,000 words.

Testimonials

Suzie Jones, Arvon

“Arvon and CompletelyNovel have been working together to produce anthologies for four years now. The CompletelyNovel team are always enthusiastic about the work, which has included playwriting, poetry and fiction, and have taken on the task of proofing across these genres very capably. We are looking forward to collaborating on our next anthology with the CompletelyNovel team!”

Sarah Law, London Metropolitan University

“Publishing our annual anthology of student writing online with CompletelyNovel allows work from our budding authors to reach a wide audience simply by adding a link to the website on their CVs. Additionally, students and their friends and family can access anthologies from previous years and be inspired for future compositions. As the editor of the anthology, I am always really impressed with the professional and editorial help I receive each year.”

Calum Kerr, National Flash-Fiction Day

“When we first launched National Flash-Fiction Day, we had no idea what we were doing, but we did know we would like to do a book. At a time when we were trying to do a thousand different things, and manage a national day which was rapidly becoming international, Anna and CompletelyNovel took us by the hand and showed us that it was going to be all right. The result, Jawbreakers, the first NFFD anthology, is a beautiful piece of work we will always be proud of."
